This means that once the instructors have given their ‘end of class announcement’ to parents 5 minutes before class end, you will be asked to queue outside the bottom end of the gym to collect your child thus reducing congestion in the lobby area and the chance to mingle and allows us time to clean the areas after useThe coffee machine will be available as normal you can take your mask off whilst drinking and then put it back on(did I need to say that)The water machine will be available to fill bottles only, but not for the children to come in and out of the gymWalk Through VideoHow Our Classes Run - New video Updated 1st September 2020How Classes will run Instructors will wear face masks or shields at most times in the gym.  We will also endeavour to coach responsibly from a distance (and continue to abide by Government legislation) Children in our independent classes will enter the gym and place belongings in cubbies, then find a space marked out on the mat Parent/Child classes will place their belongings in the cubbies in the lobby The red mat has been gridded out to keep the children at least 1-2 metres apart We will still conduct warm up activities and group activities on the red mat, but we will be adapting our lesson plans accordingly to keep the children distanced Hand Equipment, balls, sticks, bean bags etc., will be on a per child basis and put to one side after the activity to be sanitised after use We will spend time at the equipment where the children will be split into 2 groups of 6 initially, i.e. in ‘bubbles’ Instructors will still do ‘show and tell’ at the stations – the children will have spot markers to sit and watch Instructors will be vocally coaching the children around the equipment as much as possible. For parent/child classes, we will show parents how to spot and hold their child At the end of the classes we will return to the red mat for a socially distanced game & closing circle For parent/child classes, you will exit back into the lobby.  However, the children in our independent classes will put their shoes on whilst still in the gym and gather their belongings ready to exit at the rear door where parents will collect them The lobby & gym will then be hygienically cleaned ready for the next class. Instructors will also sanitise after their classCleaning ProceduresWe have increased our very rigid cleaning system even more during this post-lockdown period.  This will include cleaning down in between classes with a full and thorough end of day clean down - this will include disinfecting & sanitising,vacuuming- and paying particular attention to the following:High Touch AreasDoor handles • Disability rails • Switches • Taps • Sinks (including underneath and sides) • Toilet seat • Toilet flush handles/buttons • Toilet paper dispensers • Hand towel dispensers • Bin lids • Reception area desk • Cubbies boxes • Viewing windows / display cabinets etc. • Reception deskiPad • Computers / Laptops • TV remote • Gym-iPhone • Printers • Photocopiers • Telephones • Kitchen appliances - microwave, kettle, fridgeGym AreaSafety mats • Spring Boards • Coaching blocks • All Beams • A Frame Bars • Yellow Bars x 3 • Tumble Track Hand Apparatus inc, Balls, Bean Bags, Sticks, Scarves, Parachute • Coaching blocks • All Traps • Vaulting blocks • Beam pads & wideners • Rainbow Mats  • Spot MarkersLobby AreaCubbies • Viewing windows • Visitor Chairs & Tables • Coffee Machine • Reception desk/ Parking Tablet

Book your FREE trial session and see how exercise Benefits the Smallest of Children!

Exercise Benefits the Smallest of Children!Fun Filled Parent & Child classes at Balance & Beam...The earlier babies, toddlers, and pre-school children get introduced to daily exercise, the better the likelihood of healthy development in later life.Infancy and the toddler years are the time that the brain is developing pathways and connections to the muscles. Children who do not get enough exercise may miss out on the chance to make the strong kinds of brain-muscle connections that make physical activity easier and more enjoyable. As children grow and mature, it is this physical competence that makes exercise more likely to become a fun and life-long habit. Our professionally planned child development programme is suitable for babies from just 4 months old and is carefully designed to help both children and parents/carer. Parents are shown the correct way to support their child during each fun filled session, learning exercises that they can replicate at home, meaning little ones are getting the exercise that they NEED every day to help them stay healthy. It is really important for all children to be sociable as this will help them develop vital social skills important for their development. During each session babies and small children will be exposed to other children who they see enjoying fun physical activity. This means small children will associate exercise with having fun and this helps a child develop a love of physical fun and sport.Visiting Balance & Beam is as stress free as it can be with a little person in tow. We have full changing facilities, microwave, kettle, comfy seating and a great coffee machine.

Rhythm Time Classes at Balance & Beam Gymnastics, Tuesdays & Thursdays

Exposing your baby to early music making is very special. It’s the best gift you can ever give them...AND we’re thrilled to hold our classes at Balance & Beam on Tuesday and Thursday mornings during term time. We charge just £5 per class, paid termly to secure your place.Class times may vary slightly due to the extended gaps between classes to ensure we remain Covid safeToddler/Preschool Classes: 10am - Tuesday or ThursdayBaby Classes: 10.40, 11.20- Tuesday or Thursday Young Baby Classes: 12 noon- Tuesday or Thursday Any parents wishing to book a Rhythm Time music class for their baby or toddler can visit www.rhythmtime.net/jd228 or contact Jo on 07947 525791.The importance of going to music classes with your babyMusic is a universal language that everyone loves and understands, but did you know that it is the only activity that can stimulate and activate every part of your baby’s brain?Contrary to common belief, every child is born musical and as parents, all you have to do is nurture this innate ability. In other words, it is your baby’s environment that will determine how musical they will become. Lots of simple activities can be done at home with your baby to help stimulate and encourage their development through music. However, being a new mum can be quite lonely so going along to a structured, educational music group will give you, as a parent, confidence and new ideas about what to continue doing at home while socialising and making new friends. Don’t forget that singing also releases the “happy hormone“ so singing together in a group with other mums is really beneficial for everyone. Making music with others is such a happy, joyful experience and there is no substitute for a child and parent taking part in a live music session. This is because you will both be experiencing music in the here and now and the benefits of being involved for both you and your baby are far reaching. It’s also never too early to join a baby music class in which you can learn all about how music can help stimulate your baby’s development. For example, Rhythm Time’s award-winning and unique music curriculum involve fun, structured and educational classes that will help you to understand how music can help your child’s development, as well as build their creativity, co-ordination and confidence. Here are some of the benefits early music-making and singing will bring:• Singing simple songs to you baby will help develop their speech and language skills. (Your baby will sing before they speak.)• Songs with actions are great fun but they also stimulate your baby’s auditory development and the actions will help them gain understanding and the meaning of the words.• Moving and rocking to music will help develop their vestibular system, inner ear and sense of balance.• Using various props will help stimulate their vision, eye tracking, co-ordination and motor skills.• Using simple percussion instruments will help develop their listening, small motor skills, co-ordination, sensory awareness, and determination as they try again and again to master playing the instrument.• Shaking small instruments, such as a maraca, will stimulate your baby’s auditory reflexes and help develop a sense of rhythm and pulse which is very important for language development and creative expression.• Exercising to music will help strengthen and develop their muscles, while at the same time instilling a sense of pulse, (which is like the heartbeat your baby was listening to in the womb.)• Playing peekaboo will help to develop their visual memory, listening skills, social interaction, and will give your baby a sense of themselves as being separate from you.Rhythm Time also offer Young Baby classes specially created for newborns up to 6 months. These have been specifically designed for infants at this very early stage.Written by a music teacher who is passionate about the benefits of music for babies and young children, the young baby classes, and older baby classes (6mths to 14mths) include a number of musical activities that will help a child’s early development:Babies can enjoy many multi-sensory activities to music involving equipment such as balls, mirrors, scarves, lycra, sensory blankets, lights, foil and bubbles. All these help to enhance all their senses, which is highly beneficial at this early stage in their development.

Please make sure that you have enough space around you to do the activities safely. DON’T try anything that you don’t feel able to do. Parents, this is a BIG one for you, please remember that most of you are not ‘coaches’ so don’t get the kids to try triple flips or back somersaults (it’s not safe OK). Get the kids to know & understand their own limitations. Start small and grow – that’s the Balance & Beam way!. These activities are meant to be FUN challenges!So.....Don’t forget to check our Facebook page for times of our live events and challenges.
